So God put the "crown of glory" on my heart this past week as I was contemplating what I would write about for this week's blog post. Not exactly sure why? But as i thought about crowns in general I remembered this vivid picture of my granny wearing a crown on her head at her retirement party. (See picture below) How fitting, as yesterday she would have turned 87 years old. I suppose in some way this post is in honor of not only her, but all of God's beautiful queens who will earn their crown as a result of enduring life's many trials & tribulations.
But the most precious crown of all was the one worn by my Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ! A crown of thorns that was meant to cause pain. Meant to challenge & make a mockery of his authority but would ultimately become a thing of beauty & splendor. As on the third day he would rise up! In order to give his Heavenly Father the glory & honor. Saying death where is your sting? This tells me you can't keep a good brother or for the purpose of this blog good sister down for long. WE RISE UP!!
As I was doing research on this subject I came across a scripture which I found very intriguing. It speaks about God giving a crown of glory that will never fade away to those who tend to his flock. Check it out.
1 Peter 5:2-4
"Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, take care of them, not by constraint, but willingly, not for dishonest gain, but eagerly. Do not lord over those in your charge, but be examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive a crown of glory that will never fade away."
He's speaking to the elders specifically in this scripture but it actually applies to anyone who is responsible for leading his people. Believe it or not there are a total of five Heavenly crowns mentioned in the bible which I knew nothing about prior to writing this post. They are: The Crown of Life; The Incorruptible Crown; The Crown of Righteousness; The Crown of Glory; & The Crown of Exhaltation.
My beautiful queen which crown will you sport? When this race is over & you've made it to the finish-line which one of the Heavenly crowns will you have earned? Of course we all want to hear those infamous words "well done thy good & faithful servant, now come unto me" but what girl doesn't like a little bling? Come on ladies, lets get dazzled for the kingdom. YOUR CROWN, YOUR CHOICE, HIS GLORY!!
As you go forward in your daily journey I extend love & peace to each of you. I pray that you find your "it" and that you OWN IT. That the chains of this world be broken off of you & that you walk in the light that God intended you to walk in.
With dedication & servitude
In loving memory of my granny Delores Buck
